Clock Tower roundabout: Better or worse?

News / Mon 24th Aug 2015 am31 09:25am

SO, what do you think of the new layout of the Clock Tower roundabout.

The Clock Tower roundabout is part of the A414 near Church Langley.

We would particularly be interested to know what you think about the new ‘slip road” system.

On person contacted us and said they were not happy.

They said: “I drive up Second Avenue with the intention of going to Tescos in Church Langley.

I go into the left lane but there are Give Way signs that prevent me going up on the A414. Then, I need to cross a lane to get in, what I think id the right position to turn right.

“I don’t like it and can see an accident happening.”

The new layout is dangerous. The approach from the M11 direction is confusing and badly signposted. People intending to go straight will naturally be in the left-hand lane, which is now for left turn only. The new slip roads are far too short, not giving enough chance to rejoin the traffic coming off of the roundabout in a safe manner. This needs to be re-thought before someone gets seriously hurt.
