Elderly man mugged on Christmas Eve on Latton Common

POLICE in Harlow are appealing to witnesses following the robbery of an elderly man.

It happened in an underpass which runs from Church Road to Latton Common Road (under the A414) at around 7.30pm on Thursday, December 24.

The 76-year-old victim was approached by a man and woman who demanded a cigarette and cash. When he refused to hand anything over, he was punched in the face several times, knocking him to the ground.

The pair ran off with a few pounds in change.

An off-duty PCSO came to the victim’s aid after he was spotted with facial injuries.

Both suspects are thought to be in their early 20s. The man is described as around 6ft 4ins tall and of slim build. He was wearing jeans. The woman had mousey brown hair.
