Three of Harlow’s finest awarded gongs in New Year’s honours list

THREE of Harlow’s finest ambassadors have been awarded a medal as part of the New Year’s honours list.

Malcolm Morley, chief executive of Harlow Council, Brenda Taylor, founder of the Brenda Taylor Dance School, and Shaun Rayner, a magistrate of the Essex Family Panel, will all be honoured.

Mr Morley will be made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire for his services to local government.

Mr Rayner, of Davenport, Harlow was honoured for services to the administration of justice and the community in Essex and will be made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE).

Mrs Taylor, 73, will be awarded a British Empire Medal (BEM) for services to dance. She recently celebrated the 50th anniversary of the dance school she started in Harlow with a special musical show.

In addition Jack Petchey, whose investment in youth services have helped many in Harlow, will be knighted for services to young people in East London and Essex.
