HARLOW Running Club fielded 18 runners in this year’s Virgin Money London
Marathon helping to raise over £9000 for charities Safer Places in Harlow, Razed
Roof, MENCAP, PHAB, Mind, Mesothelioma UK, Juvenile Diabetes Research
Foundation, Essex Disabled Sports Foundation, VICTA, and St. Clare Hospice.

They joined over 39,000 other runners on what was a very cool morning, great
conditions for running, which resulted in two club records and eight runners
achieving a personal best time for the distance (PB). Jared Bethell led the way
in 532nd place in 2hrs 44min 38sec. He was followed home by Alex
Smith in 532nd place in an excellent 3hrs 05min 11sec, a PB by over 28min,
Louise Brass in 3353rd place in a fantastic PB time of 3hrs 11min 05sec and
Brendon MaClean 4083rd in 3.15.52, a PB by over 25min. Club records were set by
Carinne Jay and Paulene Galoppi in the Female Vet 50 and Vet 65 categories
respectively. Jay, in her debut at the distance, finished in 7347th place in a
time of 3.33.59 to improve the club record held since 1993 by over 14min.
Galoppi finished in 27,307th place in a PB time of 4hrs 52min 09sec to improve
the club record by over 25min. Also running were Colin Moody (7702nd in
3.35.53), Sandra Rust (10,465 in 3.47.47 PB), Martyn Coulter (13,250th in
3.57.16 debut), Darren Tiley (13,437th in 3.57.45 debut), Paul Schroder
(13,852nd in 3.58.45 PB by over 25min), Catherine Ridge (13,853rd in 3.58.45 PB
by over 30min), Nick D’Alton (19,262nd in 4.19.39 debut), Wendy Spring (19,737th
in 4.21.24 PB by over 15min), Kerry Mavris (24,026th in 4.38.05), Clair Adams
(24364th in 4.39.26), Karen Moir (24,346th in 4.39.26) and Mark Bellworthy
(28,223rd in 4.56.01 debut).

Meanwhile at the Shakespeare Half Marathon at Stratford-upon-Avon Andy Kinney
finished in 1142nd place out of 1842 finishers in 2hrs 08min 36sec.

At the Gunpowder Parkrun 5K at Waltham Abbey Jamie Jephcott finished in 2nd
place out of 162 finishers in 18min 55sec. He was followed by Andy
Ramage (24th in 22.05 PB), Faith Jackson-Lee (35th and 2nd Female in 23.17 PB)
and Laura Jephcott (74th and 2nd Female Junior in 27.45).

At the Harlow Parkrun 5K Andy Terrell finished in 4th place out of 142 finishers
and 1st Vet 40 in a superb 20min 37sec, Andy Bradley (7th and 1st Vet 50 in
21.58 PB), Spencer Brooks (18th in 23.27), Robin Lozeau (28th and 1st Vet 60 in
24.46), Graham Saville (31st in 25.06), Debbie Barry (36th and 2nd Female Vet 55
in 25.38), Paul Dixon (41st in 26.32), Michelle Hyde (42nd in 26.35), Louise
Cootes (44th in 26.39), Alan Wellbelove (45th in 26.40) and Hossein Erfani (67th
and 2nd Vet 60 in 30.04 PB).

At the Hatfield Forest Parkrun 5K Owen Haigh finished in 4th place out of 170
finishers and 2nd Junior in a fantastic PB time of 19min 59sec and Austin
Nyamande was 76th in 27.40 also a PB.

At the Finsbury Park Parkrun 5K Will Wall finished in 42nd place out of 292
finishers in 21min 22sec.

At the Gunnersbury Parkrun 5K in West London Andy Kinney finished in 189th
place out of 401 finishers in 26min 51sec.
