Athletics / Wed 31st Aug 2016 am31 07:56am

HarknettTHE Harknett brothers Lewis and Owen where once again in sizzling form to claim gold and bronze respectively over the 1500m steeplechase in the U17 men’s category at Southend on Saturday 27th Aug 2016.

Lewis who has won several county titles over years, on both the track and cross country, added today’s Essex Champion title with a time of 4.55.8. Owen who is still recovering from an injury plagued season won a well deserved county bronze with 5.31.8.

The twins train with Harlow AC’s junior endurance group at Mark Hall where a number of the athletes have made steeplechase a focus this season in readiness for the upcoming cross country season.

All the group at Harlow AC train really hard and I’m very proud of them all and the athletes that are lucky enough to gain titles and medals do so deservedly for themselves but they also win them with the help and full support of their team mates at the club. They are a tight knit unit but we are a family and friendly club who believe in teamwork, fair play and most of all having fun!
