A community meeting will be held for Harlow residents tomorrow following recent events in the town.
It will be held at 1pm on Saturday, September 10 at the Latton Bush Centre, Southern Way, Harlow CM18 7BL.
Essex Police has organised the meeting following the death of Arkadiusz Jozwik, who was assaulted in The Stow on Saturday August 27, and a separate incident in which two Polish men were assaulted in Kitson Way on Sunday September 4.
Chief Superintendent Sean O’Callaghan said: “Residents are understandably shocked and concerned following these two violent incidents.
“During the course of our patrols and enquiries, we have also been made aware of incidents of crime and anti-social behaviour that had not been previously reported to us.
“We wanted to give the community an opportunity to raise their concerns and speak to us directly about the issues they are experiencing.”
Essex Police Chief Constable Stephen Kavanagh met with Colonel Rafal Batkowski, Director of International Co-operation of the Polish State Police, on Tuesday September 6.
The meeting gave them the opportunity to discuss the investigation into both incidents and the work Essex Police is doing to reassure the Polish community in the county.
The Polish State Police offered to send an officer to assist the Harlow Community Policing Team, an offer that has been accepted.
The officer will work with the team for a week and their role will be to support our engagement with the Polish community in Harlow. The officer will be in uniform but will have no police powers.
The date for their visit has yet to be confirmed.
