A burglar who was caught in the act by a neighbour has been jailed.
Kane McCrisken, 23, broke a ground floor window to get inside a house in Canons Brook, Harlow, in the evening of Friday, October 28.
A neighbour heard noises and rang the victim, who was at a nearby pub. She went outside to investigate and saw a man moving around in the bedroom.
When he saw her, he jumped out of the broken window and climbed over the fence.
The neighbour tried to grab hold of him but he ran off.
Police were passing the pub when the home owner flagged them down and told them she had been burgled. A silver necklace and a small amount of cash had been stolen.
Enquiries were carried out and McCrisken, a construction worker, was arrested on November 4. Forensic examinations linked him to the incident and he was charged with burglary and possession of cannabis.
McCrisken, of Hadley Grange, Harlow, pleaded guilty to both charges when he appeared at Chelmsford Crown Court on Monday, December 5 and he was jailed for two years and eight months.
