Small Grants on offer for Harlow football clubs

IF your club has an idea for a project or purchase and doesn’t know where to start with funding, the Essex County FA Small Grants Scheme could help secure a welcome cash boost, with applications required by a Monday 30th January deadline.

Two funding windows were piloted in 2016 for clubs who had difficulty in locating funding for their capital projects elsewhere, and now Expressions of Interest (EOIs) can be submitted again in 2017. Clubs are advised to steer clear of general running costs and should be creative during this application window to have the best chance of success.

Previous beneficiaries include Bowers & Pitsea FC, who acquired money to help build fencing, and Hatfield Peverel FC, who were able to buy a potentially life-saving defibrillator with their money. Essex County FA Chief Executive, Brendan Walshe, explained: “We’re aware not every project is able to access grants through the Football Foundation, Sport England or other grants. We want to support clubs in this situation, in order to benefit grassroots football.”

The County FA can also advise on other potential funding streams, with the aim of attracting as many resources as possible to where they’re needed across Essex. In order to apply for money through the scheme, clubs will firstly need to complete an EOI Form. The County FA’s Small Grants Scheme Panel will meet to discuss the merits of all EOIs, which will lead to full applications being requested upon invitation from those which are successful.

Decisions can be expected within two weeks of each EOI window closing. Successful EOI submissions will be asked to submit a full application within four weeks. Applicants will initially be expected to provide details of the proposed positive outcomes of any potential funding, how it will be undertaken and who by, the budgets allocated and details of any additional money which can be dedicated to the project.

If you would like to discuss a potential application prior to submitting the paperwork, please call (01245) 393075 or E-Mail [email protected].
