Harlow Town Centre shop has licence revoked

A HARLOW newsagents has had its licence revoked after it was caught selling illegal tobacco.

The decision was made by the Harlow Council Licensing Committee meeting on Thursday night (Jan 19th).

Street Corner Shop on the Market Square in Harlow was found to have illegal tobacco on the premises when a joint operation between Essex Trading Standards and Essex Police visited the premises on October 15th, 2016.

A total of 3,202 illegal cigarettes were detected.

The licence holder, Emdad Hoshyar was present and he was represented by David Dadds.

Mr Dadds told the committee that Mr Hoshyar was out of the country at the time and did not have “control of premises”

Representations were made by Essex Trading Standards and Essex Police.

The three-person committee made the decision to revoke the shops licence.

Mr Hoshyar has twenty one days to appeal.
