Athletics: Harlow runners brave arctic conditions

HARLOW Running Club members began their Spring Marathon preparations by
competing in the Folksworth 15 Mile race. The hilly two lap course near
Peterborough proved very productive for HRC members with one new club record and
two personal best times for the distance (PB). Colin Moody finished in 147th
place out of 426 finishers and 2nd Vet 65 in a superb 1hr 56min 37sec, a new
Club Vet 65 Record. First home was Alex Smith, in his debut at the distance,
finishing in 49th place in an excellent 1hr 42min 04sec. He was followed by Andy
Bradley 125th in 1.53.13 (PB), Jamie Jephcott 166th in 1.58.16, Dionne Jones
175th in 1.59.20, John Bull 177th in 2.00.04, Graham Saville 191st in 2.00.38
(PB) and Martin McColgan 224th in 2.04.52.

Prolific runner Andy Kinney again completed a double header weekend. On Saturday
he ran the Battersea 10K, finishing in 314th place out of 353 finishers in 57min
21sec. Then on Sunday he ran the Victoria Park 10K, finishing in 286th place out
of 396 finishers in 56.42. Also running was Jeff Mace, finishing in 337th place
in 61.07.

Several runners competed in 5K parkruns on Saturday morning.
At Hackney Marshes Rob Lowe finished in 2nd place out of 240 finishers in 17min
17sec. Not far behind was Afewerk Rossom in 3rd place in 17.28 and Martyn
Coulter was 15th in 19.19 (PB).

At Harlow Richard Hynes was 1st finisher out of 181 finishers in 18min 42sec. He
was followed home by Darren Tiley 3rd in 20.01, Steve Jack 19th in 23.11 (PB),
Catherine Ridge 24th in 23.31, Martin Westley 30th in 23.39 (PB), Spencer Brooks
34th in 23.51, Paul Dixon 45th in 24.46, Graham Saville 47th in 25.09, Debbie
Barry 48th in 25.16, Louise Cootes 54th in 25.38, Nicola Smith 66th in 26.36,
Alan Cootes 67th in 26.40, Andy Smith 72nd in 27.16, Lorraine Knight 74th in
27.29 (PB), Terry Ridge 81st in 28.08, Robin Lozeau 84th in 28.15, Jeff Mace
112th in 31.11 and Pushpa Mistry 125th in 32.57.

At the Waltham Abbey Gunpowder parkrun Daniel Jephcott finished in 3rd place out
of 162 finishers in 18min 52sec and Austin Nyamande was 54th in 26.56 (Equals

At Hatfield Forest Owen Haigh finished in 4th place out of 273 finishers in
18min 55sec (PB), Jason Haigh was 14th in 20.32, Justin Patten 74th in 24.48,
David Page 117th in 26.48 and Janice Page 154th in 28.24.

At Alexandra Palace Will Wall finished in 38th place out of 185 finishers in
23min 29sec.

At Tonbridge in Kent Alan Wellbelove finished in 202nd place out of 516
finishers in 26min 53sec.

At Sheringham in Norfolk Holly Nairn finished in 51st place out of 144 finishers
in 27min 09sec.
