Harlow MP pledges to support Article 50 negotiations

Politics / Wed 25th Jan 2017 at 04:40pm

HARLOW MP Robert Halfon has pledged to support the Article 50 negotiations.

Mr Halfon said: ‘The day after the Referendum, I pledged to Harlow and Village constituents that, as MP, I would do everything possible to follow the clear wishes of local residents who voted overwhelmingly to leave the EU, alongside the country as a whole, given the clear majority in favour of leaving.

Whatever the differing views on the EU, we either believe in democratic decisions made by Referendum, or we do not. I believe it is my duty to follow the clear democratic will of the people.

“For this reason I will absolutely be voting for Article 50 and strongly support the Prime Minister’s stance. Last week, she said in her speech that Brexit really does mean Brexit and that Britain will be fully withdrawing from the EU.’
