Harlow Synagogue commemorates Holocaust Memorial 2017

MEMBERS of the Jewish community as well as invited guests gathered at the Harlow Synagogue to mark World Holocaust Day, 2017.

The ceremony was led Rabbi Irit Shillor and had as the theme: “How can life go on?

There was a prayer for interfaith meetings, poetry, homilies and a performance by Razed Roof.

A letter from Harlow MP, Robert Halfon was also read out.

The main reading reflected on the theme of the evening and reflected upon Rebuilding Communities.

There were also prayers including Kaddish-The Mourners’ Prayer and El Maleh Rachamim-God Full of Compassion.

Attendees included: Chair of Harlow Council, cllr Edna Stevens, Father Michael, Councillor Waida Forman, Chair of Harlow Ethnic Minority Umbrella Neela Hibbert.

Louqman gave reading in Arabic also in English representing Harlow Islamic centre, Jose Rovers representing the Buddhist community did reading, Mark Shakespeare read a poem.
