ON Friday 17th February, The Harvey Centre celebrated National Random Acts of Kindness Day by sending two pairs of helping hands onto their malls.

The day is a great opportunity for everyone to share a little generosity and goodwill and be reminded of the benefits of both giving and receiving a simple act of kindness.

The centre decided to use the day as an opportunity to help the local community and be a force for good, spreading some ‘feel good’ – with the intention of inspiring others to join in with #RandomActsofKindnessDay.

The Harvey Centre’s helpers were in the centre between 11am and 2pm, carrying out all sorts of good deeds such as; helping customers to their cars with their shopping bags and giving out flowers, chocolates and balloons to children. They even went so far as paying for people’s drinks in Starbucks and BB’s and even covering the cost of car parking for a few customers too.

The activity was well received by customers and left many with smiles on their faces while the ‘Helpers’ were left feeling satisfied too.

One helper said, “It’s surprising how such a simple act can bring so much joy – and it becomes contagious! Once one person is made happy, they make others happy too! It really was so rewarding to be a part of this activity.”

Feedback from shoppers on Facebook was really positive too, with comments like:

Sarah Ottosen, “Ah how nice is this!!!!”

Kelly McGill, “What a lovely thing to do.”

Daniel Knee, “That’s nice of the Harvey centre to do that for random.”

Sian Wells, “What an amazing idea x”

Bryan Young, Centre Manager at The Harvey Centre says, “We’re thrilled to have made even the slightest positive change to our customers on this day of kindness. The team did a great job, and we hope they inspired others to join in and pass on the random act of kindness trend.”
