8pm Wed 19th – Sat 23rd April

Directed by PAUL JOHNSON

1910; vast airships made of metal and belching smoke from their funnels fill the skies over London. The Union Jack hangs motionless on the lunar surface, planted there in 1891.

This is Darcaelan’s world, an alternative reality where fantastical machinery and incredible magic rub shoulders. A world of progress and unity but also of darkness and horror, and it is against this that Edward, disgraced and disowned son of the ancient and powerful Darcaelan family and his colleagues at the Metropolitan police force must stand.

Darcaelan returns to his ancestral home to investigate a break-in. He brings Sergeant Joe Sydney and Dr Emily Shaw; they find a solitary house full of ghosts and the traces of a disturbing family history. A blizzard seals them in, a murder stirs up old anxieties, and a past Darcaelan has tried to cover up reveals itself.

This is a new play by three local, talented young writers; Jake Hannam, James Mortimer and Elliott Johnson. Director, Paul Johnson is very excited to be producing a work that they have invested so much time, effort and enthusiasm into. It’s a fascinating world that promises to be a huge amount of fun inhabiting during the rehearsals and in production – he is sure audiences are going to love their first (stage) glimpse of this alternate steampunk 20th century world.
