Regional success for Harlow Gymnasts

2017 East Region NDP Grades Final

FOUR gymnasts from Harlow Gymnastics Club represented Harlow and Essex at the East Region Grades Final competition in Ipswich competing against elite gymnasts from top-flight clubs in Cambridgeshire, Essex, Herts, Norfolk & Suffolk.

The Harlow gymnasts qualified for the competition after placing in the top three and winning overall medals in the Essex County Grades Competition.
Stewards Academy student Olivia Collier (15) competed in the Grade 1 event and finished 6th overall after placing 2nd on floor, 4th in both range & conditioning (R&C) and vault, and 6th on both beam and bars. In the Grade 2 event, St Mark’s student, Charlotte Brough (15) finished in 9th position overall after placing 6th in both R&C and beam, and 8th on vault, bars and floor.

In the same event, Aisha Jones (14) finished in 10th position overall after placing 5th on beam, 9th on both vault and R&C, and 10th on floor and bars. Finally, in the Grade 6 event, Selene Virga (8) finished in 6th overall position after winning 1st place on vault, 4th in R&C, 6th on bars, 7th on beam and 8th on floor.

Gym coach Claire Williams said: “The girls worked really hard to improve their routines and performed very well, the final scores were extremely close. They were all a credit to the club and the county.”
