Harlow Health Centre holds AGM

HARLOW Health Centres Trust held its Annual General Meeting, in the Health Resource Centre at the Leisurezone, on Friday 9th June.

At the meeting Chairperson Derek Fenny announced the formal starting of the building of the new Lister House Health Centre in Staple Tye.
Contracts were exchanged on 16th May and building works will commence on June 12th.

The £7.2 million pound scheme will be completed in the autumn of 2018.

The main Building Contractor is Hutton Construction of Colchester, who are just completing the building of the new Harlow Rugby Club. Derek said ‘Harlow will have gained two new wonderful facilities.’

This new centre which has a list of some 20,000 patients will be the largest built in Harlow and complements the other health centres, owned by HHCT, which have been rebuilt in the past.

The project which has taken a long time to finalise has meant that the Charity has had to use a large amount of its own monies and will not be able to support health initiatives by way of grants, during the development.

HHCT has, however, taken over the management of one of its previously funded projects the Health Resource Centre and welcomes use by organisations looking for accommodation.
