THE Harlow Penguins Swimming Club finished their season in style by hosting the Eric Shepherd Open Meet at the Harlow Leizurezone on Saturday 15/7 with 270 swimmers competing from across the region.

There were a number of terrific performances from the Penguins with a significant number of swimmers achieving personal bests, including swimmers as young as 9 competing in their first gala. Overall 19 of the Harlow Penguins swimmers won a total of 39 gold medals. The top performing Harlow swimmer was Daniel Monk with an impressive 6 gold medals and one silver. Alessandro Rioda also delivered a strong performance, winning gold medals in each of his five events.

The other multiple gold medal winners were Ethan Peirce (3 golds), Karl Batorski (3), Carys Brealey (2 golds), Lilly-Mae Kilbey (2), Mason Arnold (2), Max Arnold (2), Misty Eren (2), Silvester Havrillay (2) and William White (2). Ellie Cronin, Glennon Lee, Jack Mansfield, Lottie Doble, Maisy Hills, Megan Cook, Olivia Smith-Lal and Taisia Tiron each won one gold medal.

The top visiting club award went to Colchester, the top boy trophy was awarded to Jack Eden (Chalfont Otters) and the top girl was Lucy Morgan (Colchester).

The Custom Lofts sponsored Harlow Penguins finished a highly credible third in Division 1 of the Essex League this season following a hard fought final gala at Walthamstow last month that saw the Penguins battle hard to finish second on the night. Harlow currently sit in second place in the Essex Mini League, further reinforcing the Penguins’ position as one of the top clubs in the region.
