Harlow men who fell at Passchendaele: Albert Edward Lincoln

ALBERT’S parents were John Lincoln, born in Harlow in 1865 and Eliza Cakebread born in Harlow in 1862. They married in Harlow in the summer of 1885.

Albert was born in Harlow in 1892.

The 1891 and 1901 censuses recorded a Lincoln family residing in Foster Street.

The 1911 census recorded Albert, aged 19, living in five rooms in Spring Street, Burnt Mill.
His occupation was recorded as a butcher’s assistant.

Albert enlisted at Stratford in the 475th S.Mid Field Company of the Royal Engineers.

Albert was killed in action on September 10, 1917 at the age of 25 and is buried in Bard Cottage, Boezinge, Belgium.
