HARLOW MP, Robert Halfon has told his Conservative colleagues to stop talking about Labour leader, Jeremy Corbyn.

A master of “running his own race”, Mr Halfon was responding to some of the speeches made by Tories at their conference in Manchester.

He said: “Young people are completely turned off by that kind of party politics. Basically, we just need to get a grip and start pushing a positive message of what we can offer,” the minister said.

He added: “Look at what Angela Merkel does. She never attacks her opponents. We need to adopt a similar approach of pushing a positive message and making a moral case for our party’s policies.

“People in Harlow are not really that interested in what is happening politically in Venezuela.

“So attacking Jeremy Corbyn along those lines is not going to work. We must focus instead on what we can offer to people in communities like mine, of being the party of aspiration.”
