Letter to Editor: Is there an election coming up?

Dear Editor,
I find it very strange but frustrating that all the things that I pledged back 2014 in my pre election interviews to get sorted out for the sake of the people of Bush Fair and Harlow are all of a sudden being done nearly four years on from that election.
The things I’m on about is highway maintenance such as maintaining the roads and footpaths of Harlow, edge trimming and grass cutting along with street cleaning.
The number on priority, the people of Bush Fair and Harlow pay for and deserve these services to be carried out every year and when needed, not just on a year of a local election.
Are tactics being played by any chance?
The whole Ukip team are here and will be here come May, putting Harlow and the people of Harlow first.
By next year's local election, Cllr Dan Long will have been a Harlow District councillor for 4 years. Perhaps by then Cllr Long will finally realise that road maintenance is a function of Essex County Council, which will not be the focus of elections until 2021. So, it's not really an electoral conspiracy to repair the roads to deprive Cllr Long of something to campaign on. Although, it is true to say that "potholes" is the mainstay of Cllr Long's manifesto, which proves the old adage of 'don't put all your eggs in one basket.'
Cllr Long seems to have not grasped the fact that there are elections every year in Harlow. Three years out of four for the District Council, and in the fourth year for the County Council. Most of the things Cllr Long has claimed he is going to fix are the responsibility of the County Council, which you would have thought he would have realised by now, having been a District Councillor for over 3 years.
Two things I mentioned are county council matters, not most. The rest are Harlow district council matters. Just because I'm a district councillor don't mean I can not speak up about county council issues as a loyal resident of Harlow and for the sake of the people of Harlow. And yes I am aware that there are elections every year here in Harlow.
Does it matter if it is Essex county council or Harlow council matter? The point is if things need to be done to any council then surely any resident in Harlow can bring up these concerns. So Mr Forman stop trying to cause problems for others and learn the word humanity.
As both Cllr.Clempner and David Forman know, we have a large list of unadopted highway in Harlow, especially in our estates. This is therefore the responsibility of Harlow's Labour Council, and tends to be the most badly maintained, and the areas Cllr.Long, as one of our best ward Councillors talks about. But no, because nothing is ever Labour's fault is it! Always easier to play the blame game and pass the buck to the Tories at County or in Government. This is why over the years of Labour control we got headlines like "Shambolic" - which truly sums them up!
