PLANS for a huge quarry that could come as far as the border of Harlow is on the plane agenda at East Herts Council.

Hertfordshire county councillors have voted to include The Briggens Estate, near Roydon in its draft “local minerals plan”,.

This plan decides where minerals can be extracted for building work in the Hertfordshire area.

The site stretches from Stanstead Abbotts to the area that covers the proposed Gilston Park development.

It means 500,000 tons of gravel could be produced per year over a 22-year period.

The plan requires the approval of the East Herts Council at their meeting on November 21.

Full details are on the East Herts website.
