THE Housing Association that run Adams House have pledged to repair their faulty fire alarm system as soon as possible.

On Wednesday morning, YH reported that residents were living in fear as the fire alarm continued to be faulty.

We have contacted the Homes Group.

Executive Director of Operations, Rosemary Du Rose said: “We are aware that the fire alarm panel at Adams House has been vandalised. We are working to resolve the situation as quickly as we can and the safety of residents remains of paramount importance to us.

Action was taken over the weekend of 16/17th December to order a new panel and arrange an engineer visit. As a precaution we added additional battery operated smoke alarms to the communal areas. A visit by our fire safety engineers is due to take place tomorrow to re-check all systems across the flats.

“We are implementing a night time concierge to help with safety, prevent further anti-social behaviour and provide reassurance to our customers. In addition we have also recently upgraded the security doors to the block and have been working with the local Police around the issues of anti-social behaviour. New security locks to the bin store/boiler room have also been fitted.

“In order to keep everyone fully aware of the situation and the changes we have made, all customers will receive a communication within the next 48 hours. We are also liaising directly with Mrs. Tyler”.
