HARLOW MP Robert Halfon has paid tribute to the former leader of Harlow Council, Jon Clempner after he stood down as both leader of the council and as a councillor.

As well as paying tribute, Robert Halfon has also expressed his hopes that the council will continue to carry on the good work undertaken by Mr Clempner.

Robert Halfon said: “Whatever my political differences with Jon Clempner, the former Labour leader of Harlow Council, I have huge respect for his work for and love of Harlow.

“I also appreciate the support he has given for the multi-million pound investments that the Government has made in our town, including: the Harlow Enterprise Zone, Public Health England and a new M11 Junction. He is a great example of best of his Party.

“I very much hope that whoever the next leader of Harlow Council is will carry on Jon Clempner’s tradition of working with all Parties and the Government to achieve the best for Harlow. I also hope that they will ensure that Harlow retains it’s status as the number one place to do business.”

Jon Clempner has been an excellent council leader and will be greatly missed.

If Clempner was so good at his job, why do 'arlow tax payers cough up nearly £1600.00 pa in Council tax, yet, Brentwood only pays £1221.75 ? Greedy socialists. VOTE Labour at your PERIL.

Clempner took a pay cut as Cllr leader. Can't see Tories doing that. Vote TORY at your PERIL!

What's his pay cut, compared to the funding which he refused to accept from the Government, for the local tax payers benefit,( no increase in taxes). Money is still available but his commie pals would be put out if he and his mob accepted it. VOTE labour at YOUR PERIL. Poaching comment doesn't make you any brighter. I suppose you're really pleased that Toal is going to take over , equality, and all that goes with it.
