Could UKIP MEP be next leader of UKIP?

Tim Aker 4

UKIP MEP and Aveley councillor, Tim Aker has been installed as joint-favourite to succeed under-fire national leader Henry Bolton as he struggles to hold onto this leadership after a controversy regarding his girlfriend.

Mr Bolton separated from his wife, began a relationship with 25-year-old Jo Marney but split up shortly after it was revealed she had sent a number of “racist” text messages.

A number of senior UKip figures have called for Mr Bolton to go.

If he does, then there appears to be support for Tim Aker to head the party.

Usually, the MEP has been very much the outsider in the betting stakes but now, according to Ladbrokes he stands at 3/1 joint favourite with David Kurten.

Nigel Farage is 4/1.

Cllr Aker is the UKIP spokesperosn for Local Government.

He may well want to concentrate on retaining his council seat in Aveley and Uplands. Local elections are on May 3rd.

UKIP’s polling “fell off a cliff” in 2017. However, Tim Aker was seen as “the best loser” at the General Election where he still polled over 10,000 votes in Thurrock.
