Harlow Labour slam UKIP as date for Little Parndon By-Election announced

Politics / Tue 23rd Jan 2018 at 12:03pm

HARLOW Labour Group today described UKIP’s decision to call for a by-election in Little Parndon and Hare Street as a “needless waste of Harlow taxpayer’s money and an unnecessary additional burden on Council staff”.

The by-election will be held on March 8 and follows the resignation of Cllr Jon Clempner.

Harlow Labour Party’s agent, Phil Waite said today, “Taking into account, UKIP’s result in Little Parndon and Hare Street at the last local election which saw them come a distant third, and the state of the party nationally with the leader refusing to quit despite a vote of no confidence and multiple resignations, it’s difficult to see any justifiable reason for this decision.

“Personally, I do not think this is a time for UKIP to be playing fast and loose with the electorate’s affections.

“While the residents of Little Parndon and Hare Street clearly need representation by elected Councillors, this was being ably provided by the remaining ward Councillors.

“Harlow Labour Party intended to arrange this by-election to coincide with other local elections in May which would have saved the Council, and as a consequence the people of Harlow, money which could have been used to protect services.

“However, we have a number of excellent candidates coming forward and we look forward to running a strong campaign and to returning another Labour Councillor to the ward in March.”

If Harlow Labour are so concerned about the cost of a by election, then their man, Jon Clempner should not have resigned. Additionally Britain, our great country has the very good principle of NO taxation without representation. All Harlow residents pay local council tax and under the law of our country, they can except Representation. UKIP is very strong and fit in Harlow and we intend that all residents get theorist deserts and representation.

O dear! Those in glass houses really shouldn't throw stones! We were told by Council staff that the period til May was too long to leave the seat vacant, so acted to call the by election. It's interesting that Labour who created the problem are now throwing stones at those who act in the interest of the people of Little Parndon! You'd have thought those who create a problem would act to solve it! Clearly not! But isn't that just Labour all over! Funny how the Tories say the same! Anyone would think they were some kind of cartel....

The first comment above by councillor Dan Long got me thinking. His final sentence refers to "theorist deserts". Could one describe this as Antonio Gramsci's recipes for trifle and sponge pudding for example? Maybe the author would like to enlighten us with his wisdom?

A typically useful comment by Mr.Foreman there!

Mark Gough (UKMaverick785) can't even spell my name correctly, yet Ukip representatives moan about the English standards of foreigners living in Britain. Ukip Harlow couldn't even spell the name of their 2015 parliamentary candidate, inserting an extra 'p' in Stopplecamp. This news story made the Dailly Mirror: https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.mirror.co.uk/usvsth3m/ukip-candidate-cant-even-spell-5565586.amp What happened to three p's Sam?

And another useful comment. People have spelt my name wrong over the years - it happens! Believe me there have been plenty of Labour spelling mistakes in leaflets over the years!

How ridiculous this statement is now with all the in fighting within Labour; causing bye elections all over the district.
