Robert Halfon welcomes decision to hold public inquiry over waste planning

ROBERT Halfon welcomes the Secretary of State’s decision to hold a Public Inquiry into Veolia’s waste planning application.
Robert Halfon, MP for Harlow, welcomed the news that Secretary of State Sajid Javid, had called-in Veolia’s planning application for an energy recovery facility at Ratty’s Lane, Hoddesdon just outside his constituency border.
Robert Halfon said ‘I am very pleased that the Secretary of State has seen how important this planning application is to those living in the local area and that they will now have their voices heard at a Public Inquiry.’
He continued ‘Residents are very worried about this proposal. I have made representations to the planning authority and the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG), on their behalf, and have spoken in Parliament about the issue, so I am very pleased that this decision has now been taken’.
