Politics / Wed 14th Feb 2018 at 06:40pm

THE NEXT Labour candidate to take on MP Robert Halfon will be a woman.

According to social media Harlow Labour Party are looking for a new candidate for the next General Election, which according to some pundits might be sooner than you think. So who is it going to be?

Well, one thing we know for sure is it will be a woman.

An advert has now appeared on the Labour Party website inviting women to apply.

The last female candidate was Suzy Stride, who stood and lost in 2015. Ms Stride worked extrmely hard for well over two years but couldn’t get near Robert Halfon.

You would have to go back to 1945 to find the last female MP for the area, when Leah Manning represented the constituency of Epping.

With Momentum a considerable influence in Harlow, many anticipate a candidate will come from their ranks but they may well find, that is not a walk in the park (even the Jean McAlpine Park).

Let's hope that E Harvey pokes her nose into the frame. Cert for the Tories.

Could be a very interesting fight between Christina Vince and Philomena Waite!
