A CHURCH Langley councillor has demanded answers from Essex Police claiming that the resultant crime scene left residents captive in their homes.

As reported, there were lane retrictions at the Church Langley/A414 roundabout due to a road traffic collison, which had resulted in a number of vehicles being damaged.

YH understands that a male made off from the scene.

Cllr Simon Carter has told residents of the Facebook page for resident sof the housing estate, that he has taken up matters with Essex Police.

Cllr Carter told Essex Police:” I am a councillor for Church Langley in Harlow. Yesterday (18 February) at approx 1100hrs, there was a two vehicle collision at the roundabout of A414 and Second Avenue (Clocktower) involving a car being pursued by the police.

“This collision resulted in the next roundabout northbound along the A414 for Church Langley being closed for several hours. This roundabout is the only exit for an estate of nearly four thousand homes, over ten thousand people, who were effectively held capture for no reason, people who needed to go about their legitimate business and lives.

“It was possible to block the southbound exit from the roundabout, but why close the whole roundabout? This closure was totally unnecessary and unwarranted and ten thousand people want to know why.”

Cllr Carter is awaiting a response.
