Amnesty Interantional

HARLOW residents are setting up their own branch of Amnesty International. Everyone who is interested in Human Rights is welcome!

Having a group in the town will allow local members to do more to engage with people in the local area who share Amnesty’s purpose of protecting individuals whose rights to justice, freedom and fairness are denied.

The first meeting will be held at St Paul’s Church (opposite the Playhouse) at 7:30pm on the 28th of March with special guest speaker Liesbeth ten Ham who is Amnesty’s regional secretary. Liesbeth has been involved in projects working with refugees as well as AI’s ‘Stop Torture’ campaign. She has been involved with Amnesty International for twenty years and has held various roles. Liesbeth has also recently helped set up Amnesty’s Colchester branch which is already going from strength to strength.

The group will take on a variety of activities including letter writing on behalf of individuals who are victims of injustice to getting actively involved in international campaigns.

What sort of salary for this little number ? Why doesn't she pop across to North Korea or maybe China or Syria or Iran or Iraq. Not a lot of need for AI in Harlow I think. She could tap up Eugenie Harvey in Churchgate who,I'm sure would love to become involved. Or, she could even invite Corbski over. Whose HR does she intend to protect in Harlow?

She's a volunteer.

This lady is a professional activist, from Holland, and would you believe one of her assets, besides a degree in history, yawn, is her ability to speak RUSSIAN. Not in anyones remit that I happen to know. Friend of Corbsky no doubt. If she isn't paid and is resident in the UK, where does she get her financing, 'arlow red ?
