Snow puts paid to Harlow parkrun

Athletics / Fri 2nd Mar 2018 at 01:29pm

A message from the Harlow parkrun team.

“So sorry to have to cancel but with no real improvement in the weather we have decided it it the best decision.

As you know our course can be challenging at the best of times and our concern is for runners and volunteers alike. This morning the two main tarmac downhills were still snow and ice covered and of course the tarmac path we run on from the start to Roy’s Hill is already uneven and with snow cover it is not easy to see where the ruts are.

We have been continuing to discuss and worry about people travelling to the park let alone running or standing around in the sub zero temperatures and have not made the made the decision lightly.

We really appreciate that our lovely community is made up of some special people who don’t mind volunteering whatever the weather but think even then there must be some exceptions!

If you have already volunteered for this week a huge thank you but we will not be needing you this time. If you are available to help another week please let us know.

We thank you for your continued support. Please stay safe and we will see you next week.
