Government Launches Consultation on Illegal and Unauthorised Encampments
Today, the Government announced a consultation on the powers needed to deal with unauthorised developments and encampments.
Harlow MP, Robert Halfon, commented:
“Harlow suffered through years of illegal and unauthorised encampments causing havoc for hardworking residents. I was very glad that we managed to get an injunction granted for the town to stop this and I have been working hard since then to get the Government to toughen up the laws on this issue.
I am delighted that the Government has listened to mine and others concerns and have launched a consultation on this issue.
More information on the consultation, as well as an online submission form can be found here – https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/powers-for-dealing-with-unauthorised-development-and-encampments.
The consultation closes on 15 June. I would urge any Harlow residents who have been affected by this issue over the years to share their experience with the Government.”
