Politics / Thu 5th Apr 2018 am30 11:14am

HARLOW MP, Robert Halfon rose on the floor of the House of Commons to ask a question regarding careers advisers.

Mr Halfon said: “To ask the Secretary of State for Education, how many career adviser networks have been approved by the Careers Enterprise Company; and where those networks are located.

“To ask the Secretary of State for Education, what recent assessment his Department has made of the effectiveness of the Career Adviser Network; and if he will make a statement.

Reply from Anne Milton: Sec of State for Education

“The Careers & Enterprise Company’s Enterprise Adviser Network is now active in all 38 Local Enterprise Partnership areas in England. Since the launch of the Network, over 2,000 Enterprise Advisers have signed up, and nearly 1,500 of those are already working with schools and colleges to support their careers and enterprise provision.

“An evaluation of the first two years of the Enterprise Adviser Network was published in November 2017 and can be found on The Careers & Enterprise Company’s website at www.careersandenterprise.co.uk/research/publications/fuelling-young-peoples-futures.

“The evaluation found that the Network is already having a positive impact. Schools and colleges reported their students were benefiting from 50% more employer encounters than previously”.

How about the tripling of university fees, Bob? Oh you voted for that one, awks. Good on Bob though. Asking the important questions and ignoring the rise in food bank use, child poverty and hate crime, the public sector pay freeze, the government's catastrophic handling of Brexit and the NHS, and his own record of voting against pro LGBT legislation. Harlow deserves better.
