HARLOW Running Club were represented at the 38th Virgin Money London Marathon by 13 runners amongst the 40 thousand plus finishers. On what was reported to be the hottest day in the history of the event it was not surprising that there no PBs set on the day. First home was Alex Smith in 1306th place out of 40,143 finishers in a fantastic, considering the very warm weather, 3hrs 02min 41sec. He was followed by Rich Hynes 2075th in 3.11.46, Sharon Wright 4325th in 3.29.52, John Bull 6498th in 3.43.52, Colin Moody 7656th in 3.50.29, Sam Carter 7746th in 3.50.58, Steve Warren 14,676th in 4.24.56 (marathon debut), Ayshea Pite 15,417th in 4.28.30 (debut), Natalie Pennells 17,001 in 4.38.12 (debut), Lisa Gibson 29,691st in 5.31.41 (debut), Tracie Cook 31,945th in 5.44.28 (debut), Diane Copsey 38,169th in 6.42.58 (debut), Andy Kitson 39,189th in 7.06.47 and Terasa Holden 39,238th in 7.08.21 (debut).

Meanwhile at the Southampton Marathon Martin Elven finished in 739th place out of 1070 finishers in 4.52.46.

At the Southampton Half Marathon Paul Schroder finished in 565th place out of 4276 finishers in 1.42.47, He was followed home by Laura Prime 1399th in 1.56.36, Janice Page 1934th in 2.03.53, Debbie Barry 2111st in 2.06.41, Jane Evans 2378th in 2.10.24, Karen Moir 2601st in 2.13.41, David Page 2642nd in 2.14.12, Joy Hale 3247th in 2.24.38, Wendy Schroder 3248th in 2.24.37 and Alison Bull 3267th in 2.24.57.

At the Essex Walkers Challenge, a 26.5 mile multi-terrain run at Maldon, Hannah Cox finished in 7hrs 34min,

At Hackney Marshes parkrun Darren Rautenbach finished in 105th place out of 300 finishers in 23.35 and Robin Lozeau was 141st in 25.04.

At Ware parkrun Sean Fylnn finished in 11th place out of 64 finishers in 23.50.

At Hertford parkrun Graham Saville finished in 64th place out of 334 finishers in 23.14 and Wendy Schroder was 299th in 35.55.

At Bishop’s Stortford parkrun Justin Patten finished in 84th place out of 321 finishers in 25.12 and Liam Boylan was 85th in 25.14.

At Great Dunnow parkrun David Page finished in 49th place out of 145 finishers in 26.58 and Janice Page was 51st in 27.02.

At Mile End park run Teresa Stickland finished in 269th place out of 399 finishers in 29.23 and Brenda Clayton was 285th in 30.18.

At Wanstead Flats parkrun Andy Kinney finished in 221st place out of 282 finishers in 32.50.
