Over a hundred attend Daisy’s funeral

News / Fri 18th May 2018 at 01:30pm

OVER a hundred people attended the funeral of Harlow resident, Daisy Staines.

Daisy was 104-years-old when she died at Ashlyns Care Home near The Stow.

With no known relatives, staff went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that Daisy’s funeral had an audience.

The story went viral and so on a beautiful day, the service held at Parndon Wood had a fitting crowd who came to pay tribute to Daisy.

The service was marked by music that dance fan Daisy loved. It started with Glenn Miller’s Moonlight Serenade and ended, beautifully, with The Last Waltz.

In between, tributes were made led by Lee Lewis.

The chair of Harlow Council, cllr Sue Livings attended.

Afterwards, those who came to celebrate, returned to Ashlyns for a buffet.
