PLANS by Essex County Council (ECC) to close a major road in Harlow have been slammed by Harlow’s MP and local councillors.
ECC issued a public notice detailing closure of London Road in Old Harlow in order to help development of the Newhall development.
The news came as a shock to residents who are concerned that traffic will be a nightmare.
Old Harlow councillor Joel Charles said: “I am extremely disappointed about the plan to enforce a temporary closure of London Road.
“Newhall residents will face significant disruption at peak times. Essex County Council should revise the roadworks plan immediately.”
Robert Halfon MP said: “The Council are creating a Berlin Wall between Old Harlow and Newhall, and the rest of the town. The closure of London Road is a terrible decision and will cause havoc for traffic.”
I'm assuming that cyclists and pedestrians will benefit from this arrangement; If not, why not?
Yeah... I'm not sure this qualifies as the Berlin Wall because there'll be no gun towers and people won't be shot for crossing it.
jfq. Moronic, as usual. More imagination than a sci-fi comic. Probably a spotty youth.
