Elderly man dies after single car collision near Harlow Mill

Update: 1700 hrs

The East of England Ambulance Service Trust dispatched two ambulance crews, an ambulance officer and Essex and Herts Air Ambulance was dispatched to the scene to care for a man in their 80’s.

Sadly despite the crews best effort, the patient passed away. Our thoughts go out to his friends and family.

Statement from Essex Police:

“We were called just after midday today, Thursday, June 14, with reports of a single vehicle collision in Edinburgh Way, Harlow.

A red Renault Megan, driven by a man in his 80s, had collided with a hoarding.

Despite the best efforts of medics from the East of England Ambulance Service, the man very sadly died at the scene.

Members of the public had also administered CPR to the man immediately after the collision.

His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by our officers.

After the collision, the road was closed at the junction with Hart Road for a number of hours and is now open.

There had been a serious incident on Cambridge Road near to Harlow Mill Station

Emergency services are at the scene.

It appears that paramedics are tending to aa person.

The road is shut southbound from near The Oasis Hotel to the Gates roundabout

An Essex Police spokesperson said: “We were called just after midday today, (Thursday, June 14), with reports of a serious, single vehicle collision in Edinburgh Way, Harlow.

“Colleagues from the ambulance service were also called and our officers remain on scene”.
