Sharon Salthouse, director of operations for planned and scheduled care, said: “Like most hospitals, we experienced an extremely busy winter period and therefore needed to prioritise emergency patients.
“This inevitably impacted on the number of routine operations we were able to perform.
“This means that some patients have had to wait longer for their surgery and we would like to apologise for this delay.
“Our elective surgical ward has been reinstated and we continue to work with our healthcare partners to look at what steps we can take to reduce our waiting list further.”
Good news for all, especially for me. I'm on the list and have been patiently waiting, because I believe that other patients are probably worse for wear than me. Well done too for PAH in reducing the list.
I have been waiting for a hip replacement since early 2020. I have had 3 cancellations the last being 1st December 2021. I am under Mr Ramkuma. What is the risk of my hip and now knee deteriorating effecting the success of the procedure due to the time that has elapsed. An HDU bed is recommended for 24 hrs due to a history of heart disease hence the reason given for the last cancellation. Naturally I am very concerned.
