2018 British National Team Championships – Cardiff
OWEN Lambert (12) (from Harlow Judo Club) was part of the Northern Home Counties Area Team at the 2018 British National Team Championships held in Cardiff. He was one of six boys selected from Essex, Beds, Bucks, Berks, Herts and Oxford to represent the Pre-Cadets Boys team in individual weight categories. It was an action packed day.
The boys were on top form each winning their rounds respectively to make it through to the semi-finals despite being a player down and giving away a win to the other teams. Here, they had to beat Scotland, which they did with ease taking them through to the Final round against reigning champions, London area, however they couldn’t continue their winning streak, and finished a well- deserved and hard fought 2nd place and silver medal.
The atmosphere was electric as everybody remaining, watched and cheered the Finals of the day. The Pre-Cadet Boys fought their hearts out but unfortunately, London area proved to be the stronger team. The Team Coach said Owen fought tremendously well and captivated the audience with his explosive judo and the overall Pre-Cadet Boys team was very strong this year.
