ESSEX Police are currently at the scene of a fatal collision in Epping.

They were called to Thornwood Road shortly after 1am this morning, Thursday, July 12 following reports that a car had been in collision with a tree having left the road.

Sadly, the driver died at the scene. Next of kin have been contacted by officers.

There is currently a road closure in place on High Road between The Plain and Woodside causing significant delays. Please avoid the area where possible.

They are appealing for anyone who saw or heard anything, was driving in the area and has dash cam footage, or have any other information. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 101 quoting incident 93 of July 12
