Athletics: Harlow go mob handed in Midweek League

HARLOW Running Club competed in the Midweek League Road Race Mob Match last Thursday at Welwyn Garden City in a 10k race involving runners from all three divisions of the league. After the race there was a presentation ceremony where runners were awarded trophies for their performances over the four race series. HRC picked up three individual Division 2 awards: Sharon Wright finished runner up in the Open Women’s category, Graham Saville was runner up in the Vet 60 category and Jim Bates was winner of the Vet 70 category.

On the night, out of 19 teams, the men finished 9th and the women 11th and overall Harlow were 10th. In the women’s race Sharon Wright finished in 11th place out of 163 finishers in 42.35, Laura Prime was 54th in 51.58 (PB), Hannah Wenlock 68th in 54.09, Janice Page 78th in 55.10, Helen Brunton 162nd in 1.15.45 and Teresa Warren 163rd in 1.15.45.

In the men’s race Craig Segal finished in 42nd place out of 319 finishers in a superb 37.55. He was followed home by Martin Westley 70th in 39.10, Colin Baker 79th in 39.56, Josh Shelton 86th in 40.21, Danny McCree 91st in 40.48, Andy Terrell 105th in 41.46, Lee Webber 124th in 42.49. Jon Steadman 143rd in 44.00, John Bull 168th in 45.59, Graham Saville 191st in 48.03, John Tennant 194th in 48.19, Colin Moody 209th in 49.19, Martin Elven 211th in 49.28, Steve Warren 215th in 49.37, Jamie Jephcott 221st in 50.21, Marc Witham 223rd in 50.33, Andy Smith 239th in 51.58, Tom Ruszkowski 240th in 51.58, Jim Bates 253rd in 53.29, Chris McCarthy 265th in 54.55, Paul Watts 283rd in 57.28, Roy Steven 284th in 57.28, David Page 288th in 57.37, Bill Brunton 289th in 57.40 and Hossein Erfani 315th in 1.10.19.

Meanwhile at the off road Orion Forest 5 Mile race at Chingford Martin Westley finished in 20th place out of 110 finishers in 32.43, Martyn Coulter was 36th in 34.58, Sean Flynn 55th in 39.22, Dave Page 86th in 45.10, Janice Page 95th in 47.27, Debbie Smith 98th in 47.49 and Liz Roberts 109th in 59.34.

At the Thorpe Park Standard Distance Triathlon (1.5k open water swim, 40k bike ride, 10k run)
Paul Schroder finished in 206th place out of 318 finishers in 2.38.40, a PB by 12 minutes.

At the Grays Sprint Distance Triathlon (400m swim, 20k bike ride, 5k run) Martyn Coulter finished in 62nd place out of 118 finishers in 1.19.58 and Louise Cootes was 110th in 1.42.18.

At the North Weald Race for Life 5K Wendy Schroder finished in 26.12.

At the Harlow parkrun Andy Kitson finished in 3rd place out of 198 finishers in 19.34. He was followed home by Ryan Smith 8th in 22.25, Catherine Ridge 12th in 22.50, Steve Cowlin 25th in 24.06, Chris McCarthy 30th in 24.27, Martin Elven 32nd in 24.35, Tom Ruszkowski 33rd in 24.43, Terry Ridge 35th in 24.48, David Morley 44th in 25.52, Graham Saville 47th in 26.01, John Bull 48th in 26.01, Laura Prime 49th in 26.03 (PB), Jim Bates 54th in 26.31, Andrew Smith 56th in 26.56, Alan Cootes 61st in 27.17, Andy Terrell 68th in 27.43, Robin Lozeau 78th in 28.22, Dionne Jones 87th in 29.23, Teresa Stickland 96th in 30.13, Pushpa Mistry 99th in 30.49, Jeff Mace 100th in 30.55, Alison Bull 111th in 32.02, Hossein Erfani 133rd in 33.48, Marc Witham 167th in 37.27, Spencer Brooks 168th in 37.28 and Karen Kitson 189th in 43.00.

At Bishop’s Stortford parkrun Jason Haigh finished in 28th place out of 301 finishers in 21.43, Darren Rautenbach was 32nd in 22.03 (PB) and Jane Evans 142nd in 28.15.

At Becton parkrun Craig Segal finished in 21st place out of 76 finishers in 23.39.

At Gunpowder parkrun in Waltham Abbey Sharon Wright finished in 49th place out of 155 finishers in 25.42.

At Keswick parkrun Hannah Wenlock finished in 77th place out of 198 finishers in 26.49.

At Harwich parkrun Alan Chatterton finished in 47th place out of 113 finishers in 26.30.

At Burnham-on-Crouch parkrun Alan Wellbelove finished in 41st place out of 103 finishers in 27.39.

At Ware parkrun Terasa Holden finished in 56th place out of 68 finishers in 37.10 and Helen Brunton was 57th in 37.54.
