International Cricket is coming to Harlow

ON Tuesday 31st July, Wednesday 1st August, Friday 3rd August, Sunday 5th August the ICC Under 19 Cricket World Cup Qualifiers Europe Division 2 are coming to Harlow Cricket Club & Harlow Town Cricket Club.

Teams including Netherlands, Spain, France, Norway will battle it out to compete in next years Under 19 World Cup.
Harlow Cricket Club will host the first round match in Group B of Belgium v Spain at Marigolds on Tuesday 31st July, followed by Spain v Norway on Wednesday 1st August.

Harlow Town Cricket Club will host both second round matches of Group A, Guernsey v Italy & France v Sweden at Ash Tree Field on Friday 3rd August. Finally, Ash Tree Field will host Netherlands v Belgium on Sunday 5th August.

All matches will start at 11am and will be free to attend to the public.

The 50 Over tournament will be a great occasion for both clubs and something which they are hoping will impact the town.

Alan Howick, Harlow CC President commented, “For a town which for the outside world appears to be ‘non-cricket’ it is in fact far from the truth. When you consider Harlow boost two senior clubs putting out nine or ten teams and sometimes more between them every weekend means the town is as much cricket related as other more established cricketing towns in this region.

And in addition, colt’s cricket from nine to sixteen is also flourishing. And that is probably why both the ICC and Essex County Cricket Club have asked both clubs to host a number of the one day Internationals this summer in late July and early August. It is also a tremendous recognition and well deserved for both clubs, Harlow Town CC and Harlow CC to be recognised and invited to host U19’s international cricket.”.

Secretary & Treasurer of Harlow Town is looking forward to the prospect of international cricket being played at Ash Tree Field, “It is a great opportunity to showcase these upcoming international players to the local community, to promote cricket in the town and our great local cricket facilities on offer at both clubs to hopefully engage with new stars of the future locally.”.

Both clubs look forward to welcoming any visitors to their respective games.
