Exhibition Opening | Show Women

Join the Gibberd Gallery on Thursday 9th August for the opening of their next exhibition, with a special introduction from Lara Wardle, Director Curator at the Jerwood Foundation.

In 1918, 40 per cent of women across the UK were legally entitled to vote for the first time. 100 years later, we respond to the first wave of women to get the vote with Show Women: an exhibition of painting, sculpture, film and installation by contemporary women and non-binary artists.

The exhibition is a collaboration between the Gibberd Gallery and two of the UK’s most significant collections of modern and contemporary British art: the Jerwood Collection and the Ingram Collection.

Loaned work by both emerging and established artists such as Victoria Sin, BP Portrait Award winner Aleah Chapin, and Rose Wylie will be on display alongside a special interpretation of the Sir Frederick Gibberd 20th Century Watercolour collection, reflecting upon the changing landscape for women’s work over the last 100 years.
