General Gymnastics East Region Apparatus Final 10th June & 1st July

TWELVE medals for Harlow gymnastics club at the General Gymnastics East Region Apparatus Final. Following on from the clubs success at the County qualifiers in Colchester earlier this year, seven gymnasts went on to represent Harlow and Essex at Regional level in Ipswich.

Competing in the level 3 age 8/9 event, Max Riddell (9) was awarded gold medals for vault, parallel bar and high bar and the silver medal on floor.

16-year-old Kieran McMahon received the gold medal on vault and bronze medals for bar, p-bar and floor, in the level 5 age 16-18 event.

Competing in the level 5 age 13-15 event: Little Parndon pupil, Hrissian Gunov (11) won the gold medal on vault and silver medal on floor and Harry Ferguson (13) took gold medal on bar, silver on vault and placed 7th on floor. In the same event, Mark Hall student Matteo Reynald-Abad (12) placed 4th on bar and 5th on floor with teammate Daniel Capodici (12) placing 4th on vault.

Ellie Kenway (13) placed 6th on vault in the level 5 age 13/15 competition.

Gymnasts Hermione Mellor, Shannah Stacey, Brooke Walker, Holly Montague, Elana Dimitriu & Brooke Hayzelden also qualified for the event but did not compete.
Boys squad and tricking coach Nyall Hayford said, “the boys don’t get many competition opportunities, so it was great to see them perform at this level and bring back medals for the club”.
