Harlow Carnival 2018: They couldn’t rain on our parade!

News / Sun 26th Aug 2018 pm31 05:54pm

FROM just after 11am, it began to rain and it didn’t stop all day but that did not dampen the enthusiasm of all those who took part in the Harlow Carnival.

From the VIP bus at the front to the final float which was Aladdin, it was a joy to see such a coming together of the Harlow community.

Our thirty five minute film of the event is below. As we have spent a few hours editing it, here are some of the highlights.

1. The energy coming from the floats with music: Harlow Hospital Radio, Harlow Steelband, Harlow Playhouse’s Aladdin.

2. There is a lovely moment when the Town Crier lets a little girl ring his bell and wear his hat.

3. Two ladies from the Nordic Walkers wigging out to Love Shack.

4. The dead body on the Essex Police Cadets float.

5. The lady doing the Hokey Cokey.

6. The public who defied the rain to stand out and give the event their support.

7. The event went seamlessly which is testament to the work by all agencies concerned.

8. Great dance groups including Hip Hop Pop and Dance Fusion to name just two.

9. The energy and enthusiasm from Harlow Running Club and Harlow parkrun.

10. The lovely guide dogs.

11. Bollywood dancers in a van.

12. The impressive road handling skills of the HTS drivers.

13. The relentlessly cheerfulness of the women from Harlow Slimming.

14. The sign on the back of the Harlow Playhouse float which said “See you next year!”
