Old London Road is set to be open at end of the week (and more news from Church Langley councillor)

News / Mon 3rd Sep 2018 am30 11:57am

CHURCH Langley and Newhall resident have been asking about the status of Old London Road, which has been closed all summer for roadworks.

Church Langley councillor, Simon Carter said: “Old London Road should be re-opening at the end of this week (8th September) – Friday night/Saturday but there will be single alternate lane traffic (SALT) at various points as they construct the chicanes in both directions on both sides of the new crossing.

Access will not be available from Newhall Way until the work is complete in a few more week time when the chicanes will be in place to slow traffic on the approach to the new crossing.

It is not recommended using the ‘haul road’ for access to Newhall as it is a private road for construction traffic only.

I am further informed the third lane exit from Church Langley onto the A414 will be put back on Saturday 8 September, in case you want to get the balloons and bunting ready.

“Work on the new hotel next to the Potters Arms will not commence until the new entrance area for the school is complete, which should be this week. Access to the building site will be from the school entrance area but the Potters Arms car park will be used for storage until the space is available on site. Completion is scheduled for February next year.

The bund (or small dam) on the bridle way near Burley Hill is likely to take a few more weeks leading to continued disruption on Kiln Lane. I am informed by the contractors that they spoke to the school before the holidays so it is anticipated the school will amend its opening times to allow more time for vehicles to negotiate the barriers. The bund is an important piece of infrastructure for the safety of the district in the light of changing environmental conditions – the Environment Agency is not wasting its scarce resources where they are not required. Church Langley is built on an impermeable clay bed with poor drainage.

Good. Because Why should those who.live in New Hall have the privilege of have their estate closed off to traffic. I bet most of those who live in New Hall drive their vehicles down other residential roads, like mine, which is next to the southern way.
