Gilden Way: Planning application submitted for another 144 homes

News / Tue 4th Sep 2018 am30 10:28am

A PLANNING application has been submitted for another 144 homes on Gilden Way.

The application states: Residential Development Comprising the Erection of 593 Dwellings with Associated Access Roads, Play Areas, Open Space, Landscaping and Drainage Infrastructure as Part of the Wider Development of Land North of Gilden Way,

Replacing Approved Development of 449 Dwellings.

If YH has got it right, it isn’t 593 more homes than are presently being built but infact 144 more.

We have spoken to Old Harlow councillor, Joel Charles, who will want to have his say on the subject.

We also plan to speak to local residents who have already expressed deep concerns about the capacity for the area to cope.

Full details can be found here

What else does this development have in store for the area ? Are we to assume that Harlow council didn't have any idea that a larger percentage would be applied for ? Is this an extra plot, not annexed within the existing one ? Dubious or what ?

Our local Councillor, Joel Charles is already up in arms over this rather sneaky endeavour to add another 144 properties to the original plans. Going past the site yesterday, adjacent to Marsh Lane, are some pasture/grazing fields with an official bit of paper-work attached to the fence, could this be notice for the application,on this secondary plot ?

You're showing your ignorance again 'Micky' The original 1200 was approved by the Tory Secretary of State, not Harlow Council. And 'they might change their plans in future and apply for more' is not grounds for refusal anyway, even if it had been the Council's decision to grant.

Yer man Halfon had this to say at the time. (Note that he identifies all party objection). He said it "flies against the localism agenda, as every local residents' association, councillors of all parties on the district council, the civic society and almost every other relevant Harlow group was vehemently opposed to the development and had expressed serious concerns about a lack of popular support, adequate consultation or any plans for necessary infrastructure" Seriously Micky, you are so obsessed with trashing the council you don't even stop to find out the facts! Go have a lie down fella, and come back fighting. But with some sense please ...

So, objections right left and centre, but, this cock eyed project carries on. Wait on Hawksbee, when this part of town is completely at a standstill with mad-cap development and over run by traffic, you can all agree what a wonderful job we made of it. Are you really a business man ?

You are so obsessed with taking an oppositional stance to me, you are missing the fact that no-one here is supporting the developers ... I am agreeing with Joel Charles. I am agreeing with Halfon. If you were bright enough to notice, you would recognise that I am also agreeing with you, at least with regard to the potential 'overdevelopment' of the area/project. In your ignorance, your original post criticised 'Harlow Council' when the permission was actually granted by the (Tory) Secretary of State on appeal, in 2012. That is the only point at issue. You have to acknowledge that you posted ignorant of the relevant facts. Or not ... anyone reading this thread will reach their own conclusion.

Do you think, Hacsmee, that I would believe a word of a proven Racist. So vain, " taking an oppositional stance against ME ". The best you can do is disappear back to where you came from.
