Charity / Thu 27th Sep 2018 pm30 01:20pm
HASTINGWOOD-based charity, St Clare Hospice, is appealing to successful London Marathon 2019 ballot applicants to join Team St Clare for the event on Sunday 28th April 2019.
Members of Team St Clare who have secured their own place for the London Marathon in the ballot have no minimum fundraising target, but will be helping to raise vital funding for the West Essex and East Herts hospice – making their lucky ballot place truly worthwhile!
Successful ballot applicants who join Team St Clare will receive the full support of the Hospice’s Challenges team, who can offer support and guidance on taking part in this prestigious, world-class race. Members can expect to benefit from a series of free-entry ‘Marathon Evenings’ at the Hospice in Hastingwood, led by expert sport therapists, as well as fundraising and moral support during their training, and on the day of the event. In return, St Clare Hospice asks members to raise sponsorship in aid of the charity – however, there is no minimum fundraising target for members with their own ballot place.
St Clare’s London Marathon 2018 team raised over £28,000 in sponsorship money for the Hospice – fundraised by both successful ballot applicants and Gold Bond runners for the charity. That’s enough to fund over 30 weeks of life-changing physiotherapy support for St Clare patients, supporting and empowering people to remain active and independent for as long as possible.
St Clare Hospice’s Challenges and Events Fundraiser, Emma Broadbent, said: “If you were lucky enough to secure your own ballot place for London Marathon 2019, why not make the most of your lucky running experience and join Team St Clare? All that we ask is that you collect as much sponsorship money as you can – and you can reap the benefits of a super, supportive team and expert advice from sports therapists at our Marathon Evenings! It’s a no-brainer! Running the Marathon in aid of St Clare also gives extra meaning and a special purpose to your challenge, as your fundraising efforts literally go towards changing the lives of people in need of our support in your local community. The more the merrier on Team St Clare – so do get in touch and come along to meet your new team!”
