Harlow Playhouse announce plans for young creative people

Entertainment / Fri 12th Oct 2018 at 09:36am

ON MONDAY, Harlow Playhouse launched their “Young Practitioners” programme.

As part of Harlow Playhouse’s ongoing commitment to improving culture and community outreach and involvement in Harlow, this new programme seeks to engage and support young creatives and therefore the future of art and culture in the area.

The programme is and will always be, free of charge for the Young Practitioners, the only cost would be that of the individual’s time and creative input. The Programme mission is simple – to provide free support, rehearsal spaces and performance opportunities for 16-25 year old creatives in the local area.

The Programme is designed to run alongside all other commitments, school, college, theatre school, performance academy, university and work. It will be headed up by Nathan Stickley (GSA, Head of Creative & Programming for Harlow Playhouse) and overseen by Rory Davies (Harlow Playhouse Director) and will be based at Harlow Playhouse, utilising the building’s multiple rehearsal studios and performance spaces. The programme is designed to encourage and nurture young creative talent, to create a network of creatives to support and work with each other – and link young creatives to industry professionals and performance opportunities both professional and amateur.

The Young Practitioners Programme welcomes all interest, from young actors, writers, dancers, spoken word artists, painters and technicians to budding directors, rappers, musicians, poets – the list is exhaustive.

If someone you know is aged 16-25, creative, interested in the Arts and wants to further their knowledge and their career – if they want to collaborate with other like-minded creatives and benefit from working alongside industry professionals in a vibrant professional theatre, then this programme is for them.
