Harlow Chorus of Approval

IT IS a very busy time for Harlow Chorus, who are currently in rehearsal for a remembrance concert which takes place on Saturday 10th November at All Saints Church, Bishops Stortford, CM23 2DY at 7.30pm.

Harlow Chorus, in their 41st year, are well established and have some very experienced singers in their ranks. However, they are so keen to attract new members, that they are holding an open rehearsal, FREE to attend, for anyone over 16, next Monday 15th October at 7:30pm at St John’s Arts and Recreation Centre, Market Street, Old Harlow CM17 0AJ.

The company’s remembrance concert will feature Karl Jenkins’ “The Armed Man”,
Mozart’s “Ave verum corpus”,and the premier of a piece written especially for Harlow Chorus by their Musical Director, Edward-Rhys Harry.

“Spring Offensive”, inspired by war poetry, was composed by Mr Harry, who took over as MD at the beginning of this year. He works across the UK and internationally, as a voice coach, adjudicator, composer, arranger and choral conductor.

Harlow Chorus’ remembrance concert will also be the first to feature their new accompanist, Gary Beecher”. An accomplished pianist, Mr Beecher was winner of the ‘Irish Freemason’s Young Musician of the Year 2014’, and he had his solo debut with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra in the National Concert Hall Dublin, in 2015, performing Schumann’s Piano Concerto in A minor.

Harlow Chorus are also delighted to be joined by British Sinfonietta for this concert which promises to be a spectacular blend of new and familiar classical music.
