Review: The Heath Players Variety Night

A PACKED Hatfield Heath village hall was treated to a two hours of top quality entertainment on Friday night.

There was something for everyone in a show that did what it said on the poster and was so varied.

It started with a beautifully sung “You’ve Got A Friend” by Chrissie Waites and Tony Saxby.

It was soon followed by Sid Perry with a rendition of Victoria Wood’s “Kimberley”. Sid reappeared in a number of Victoria wood sketches which made this reviewer think that if there was ever a show based on Victoria Wood’s life then Sid should be the star (or at least, Heath Players do Dinnerladies).

Numbers such as Combine Harvester and Cell Block Tango (He had it coming) used all the cast really well.

We must also praise Jenna and Matt for Dancing Fool plus Ed in The Generation Game.

Bernard (I’ve retied you know) Moule showed all his class and timing in “Fatal Beatings” and “Entirely a matter for you”

From intricate numbers such as Phobias Workshop to the fitting finale (and Dot), the entertainment kept on coming.

Well done to the whole creative team and company. There was clearly a lot of hard work that went into this performance and it was performed with gusto, wit and charm.
